Before you notice anything else about a S E V I N product, you notice the scent. What you don't see is the standard behind it. Our founder, Sevin Ersin, has a simple phrase for how every product is made: everything must tick. The ingredients, the formulation, the packaging and the sustainability all have to hold up together, or it doesn't launch. It's why our Hand & Body Wash is a vegan, sulphate-free body wash in a glass bottle, not an afterthought in plastic.
Where "everything must tick" comes from
Growing up in Cyprus, Sevin learned early that nothing worth having came ready-made. Later, years of sourcing denim for fashion brands from Primark to Burberry taught her to hold suppliers to a precise standard, batch after batch. Both instincts shape every Sevin formula.
What goes into a Sevin hand and body wash
Our Hand & Body Wash is free from sulphates, SLS-free and vegan. Instead of sulphates it uses gentler cleansers, including lauryl glucoside, which is derived from sugar and coconut. The result cleanses properly without leaving skin tight, and it's suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
Our Hand & Body Lotion follows with shea butter, sweet almond oil, cocoa butter and aloe vera: lightweight, fast-absorbing and vegan. The fragrance that wouldn't behave
Our four fragrances were created exclusively for Sevin, alongside a fragrance house's R&D team. Getting them right wasn't always straightforward. Rather than settle, Sevin kept going until it was right.
The supplier worth driving out for
When Sevin found a supplier she believed in, she didn't send an email. She drove out to meet them in person and make the case for working together.
Sevin was still in its early stages, but the vision was clear. That was enough to bring some of the world’s leading suppliers on board from the very beginning.
Glass, refills and a Black Edition
Everything must tick includes the bottle. Our washes and lotions come in glass, and the 500ml Refill Pouches let you top up the same bottle instead of buying a new one. The Wash Refill Set pairs a glass bottle with a refill, and for Marble Black there's a Black Edition in sleek black glass.
We use glass wherever possible. Any plastic we do use is recyclable, while our paper packaging and boxes are biodegradable and free from plastic coatings.
Your questions, answered
What is sulphate-free body wash? A sulphate-free body wash cleanses without sulphate detergents such as sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) or sodium laureth sulphate (SLES). It uses milder cleansing agents instead, such as the sugar-derived lauryl glucoside in Sevin's Hand & Body Wash, which clean effectively with less risk of a tight, dry feeling.
Is sulphate-free body wash better? Sulphate-free body wash is often a better fit for dry or sensitive skin, because it's gentler on the skin's natural oils. It may lather a little less, but it cleans just as well. If your skin feels tight after showering, a sulphate-free wash is a good first swap.
Why do some people avoid SLS in body wash? SLS is a permitted, widely used cleanser, but it's a strong foaming agent, and some people find it leaves their skin feeling dry or irritated, especially with frequent use. That's why many people with sensitive skin choose SLS-free body wash.
What is the most luxurious hand wash? A luxurious hand wash should have a considered fragrance, a gentle formula and a bottle you're happy to leave on show.
