How to Keep Skin Nourished and Hydrated in Summer

Summer does a lot of wonderful things. Keeping your skin hydrated isn't always one of them.

Heat, UV exposure, salt water and air conditioning all work against your skin's natural moisture levels. The result is that tight, dry, dull feeling that no amount of makeup quite fixes.

The good news is that looking after your skin in summer doesn't have to be complicated. A few simple habits and the right ingredients make a bigger difference than a bathroom full of products.

1. Hydrate from the inside out

It sounds obvious but it's worth saying: your skin reflects how well hydrated your body is. Heat increases water loss through the skin, so you need more of it than usual during summer months. Start there before reaching for any product.

2. Get serious about SPF

A good SPF is the single most effective thing you can do for your skin's long term health. Apply it at home before you leave so it has time to activate properly, reapply every two hours if you're spending time outdoors, and don't forget the easy-to-miss spots like ears, hands, lips and the back of the neck.

3. Nourish with natural oils

When skin feels depleted after a day in the sun, it needs ingredients that genuinely restore rather than just sit on the surface. Natural oils like Jojoba and Sweet Almond Oil are particularly effective because they work in harmony with the skin's own moisture barrier rather than disrupting it. Our oil combines both alongside Vitamin E, absorbing effortlessly to leave skin feeling soft and replenished without any heaviness or greasiness.

4. Eat to support your skin

Foods rich in antioxidants, think berries, leafy greens, tomatoes and nuts, help support your skin's natural resilience against UV and environmental damage. It won't replace your SPF but it works quietly in the background in a way that shows over time.

5. Time your sun exposure wisely

The sun is at its most intense between 11am and 3pm. Shifting outdoor time to the morning or late afternoon gives you all the warmth and daylight with significantly less UV stress on your skin.

6. Make after-sun care a proper step

What you do after sun exposure matters just as much as your protection routine. Cool the skin down, rehydrate with water and follow with something nourishing and gentle. Sun-exposed skin has a more vulnerable moisture barrier than usual, so this is the moment natural ingredients really earn their place.

Simple, consistent, natural

The best summer skincare isn't about using more products. It's about choosing the right ones and using them consistently. Ingredients that work with your skin rather than against it, habits that become second nature, and a little more care on the days when your skin needs it most.
